Binder & Notebook Decorating Party (Grades 6-12)

Drop in and decorate your new notebooks and binders for the upcoming school year! Use our collection of washi tape, Japanese stickers and paint markers, or design and print your own color decals. For students entering grades 6-12. Please bring your own notebooks and binders, and we will provide the decorating supplies. Registration not required, but appreciated. Join local artist, Rich DiCarlo, with the Valley Arts Council while he guides you step-by-step in creating a beautiful masterpiece all your own.  No prior artistic abilities required. Join in on some gross, slimy and sometimes smelly experiments! From eyeball slime to an erupting mad scientist's lab, we'll learn about the human body, chemical reactions and just what it is that makes feet stink. Space is limited, so registration is required (one RSVP per family). This Family STEM activity is appropriate for all ages, but smaller children will need assistance from an adult or older sibling. Lava Stone Bracelets & Essential Oil Perfumes (Grades 6-12)

Create your own bracelets out of lava beads and semi-precious stones, and personally blend an essential oil perfume to use with them. Pollinators are essential to our environment.  Students will learn about beekeepers, insects, life cycles, plant pollination and the global decline of bees. (Library staff can pick up Grade 3 and over students at Laurel Ledge with appropriate permissions given.) Children Grades 2 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Registration is required. Annual Pumpkin Painting Event

Friends of the Beacon Falls Library Annual Pumpkin Painting Event Children who have pre-registered and paid the $1.00 registration fee by October 19th, will have a reserved pumpkin. There may be a limited number of other pumpkins available, but that is not guaranteed. All materials including pumpkins are provided.   Please note: Due to the $1 fee, participants will not be able to register online - registration must be done at the library. Thank you!
