Fiction, Poetry & Non-Fiction: How New Writers Can Find a Home for Their Work

Submitting fiction, poetry, and non-fiction articles for publication in magazines and websites may seem daunting to a new writer. However, the process can be easier with a few road signs to guide the start of your journey into publishing. Local author Patrick Scalisi will lead a session that covers the basics of submitting work to the publishers of magazines, e-zines, and websites, and hopefully provide new writers with the guidance they need to get started. Bring your questions and enthusiasm as we talk about building your writing resume.

About the presenter: Patrick Scalisi is a journalist, communications professional, and fiction author from Naugatuck, Connecticut. Since 2008, he has published stories in several magazines and fiction anthologies. He also served as the editor of The Ghost Is the Machine, a bestselling anthology of steampunk-horror stories from Post Mortem Press. Pat’s debut book, The Horse Thieves and Other Tales of the New West, was released in 2014. His debut novel, an all-ages sci-fi adventure titled The Key to the Universe, was published by Owl Hollow Press in August 2019. Learn more at patrickscalisi.com
